Summary
The Operator 1 Paint operates standard equipment and machinery in the paint shop. Will prepare railcars for the blasting or painting process and apply paint touch up to missed areas of the railcars after they have been through the painting process.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Operates machinery to move truck assemblies through the paint shopOperates forklift and overhead cranes to move material into positionEnsures that equipment is maintained and operating properly before beginning workApplies paper covers with tape to wheels, couplers, and other devices and removes attachments prior to a railcar being blasted or paintedRemoves trash or debris from the inside and outside of a railcar to ensure a clean surface for paintingEnsures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintainedQualifications

This position is in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving railcars and machinery, and trip hazards where head, hearing, eye, and foot protection including composite toed safety shoes, are required.This position will be exposed to hazardous chemicals which requires the use of a blast suit, gloves, and wearing a respirator. For Safety purposes, employees must be clean-shaven when wearing a respirator.Additional personal protective equipment may be required as determined by the environment.This position may be required to work at heights of 20 ft or within confined spaces.Physical Activities and Requirements
