Operator - 2nd Shift
**Job Title: Operator - 2nd Shift** **Job Description** You will perform various duties including, but not limited to, the safe operation of production and packaging machinery, proper handling and mixing of ingredients, and moving and/or stacking materials and equipment used in the production of quality ice cream. You will perform at reasonable speeds, taking full advantage of the equipment available, while observing all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and good housekeeping practices. You will act with quality, safety, and teamwork in mind at all times, communicate issues with machinery or product to supervisors clearly and immediately, and maintain an understanding of the flow of work on the production floor, from staging through production to storage. Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned by supervisors or Plant Management. **Responsibilities** + Operate production and packaging machinery safely and efficiently. + Handle and mix ingredients properly. + Move and stack materials and equipment as required. + Perform tasks at reasonable speeds, utilizing available equipment effectively. + Observe all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and maintain good housekeeping. + Act with quality, safety, and teamwork in mind at all times. + Communicate issues with machinery or product to supervisors clearly and immediately. + Understand the flow of work on the production floor, from staging through production to storage. + Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisors or Plant Management. **Essential Skills** + Understanding of the basic flow of ice cream production from receiving, mix formulation, production, storage, and distribution. + Training and proficiency in all aspects of mix formulation and bulk ingredient receiving. + Application and maintenance of the HACCP/HARPC plan. + Ability to review and retrieve dry goods from the warehouse and place them in an orderly fashion for night runs. + Ability to review recipes with the batch operator and figure out slurry numbers for night mixes. + Capability to work on weekly task sheets each night when not dumping. + Responsibility for washing tanks and machines when batching is complete. + Adherence to safety guidelines and rules, environmental and regulatory guidelines, and use of all required safety equipment. + Maintenance of quality and cleanliness of the work area and equipment. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Must be at least 18 years of age, with a High School Diploma or GED preferred. + Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes. + Experience or training in manufacturing/food manufacturing or supply-chain environment is preferred. + Ability to work pre-scheduled Day or Night shifts with schedules created with plenty of notice. + Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions with a high level of detail. + Physical requirements: ability to work 8+ hour shifts, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time, perform repetitive motions, and work in an environment with varying temperatures. + Must be able to get to work independently on time every day. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy consistent overtime pay at 1.5x after 40 hours each week. The role requires adherence to safety guidelines, the use of required safety equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and quality standards. You will need to work 8+ hour shifts, with the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time.
