About you and this role – Dow has an exciting opportunity for aProduction Technicianin our Lone Star Operations and is proud to operate and be a partner in the Deer Parkcommunity. The plant operates an emulsion reactor which produces more than twenty products. These products are sold into the coatings, building and construction, paper, textiles, and adhesives markets. We are looking for top-caliber, technically capable Operator Technicians who embrace change in batch processes, adapt fast to a dynamic environment, make decisions quickly, possess self-confidence and are lifelong learners. These positions require a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship. Production Technicians perform a variety of tasks as required in the operation of the Lone Star Site. We will provide all necessary tools and training. Responsibilities – + Follows Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas. Ensures adequate operating discipline is available for all planned and unplanned activities. + Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitors process conditions, key performance metrics, equipment and control systems and makes appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals. + Product unloading hazardous and non-hazardous materials + Completes Tank transfers, switching and monitoring + Performs scheduled operational and related tasks and tasks that arise as a result of resolving unplanned events. + Performs autonomous maintenance, including minor repairs and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate policies, procedures, processes and disciplines. + Lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment including the proper clearing and isolation of equipment. + Offload packaged raw materials in the warehouse; date and put away raw materials in the warehouse; rotate raw materials in the warehouse; label lines; paint and clean as time permits. + Completes filter/strainer changes as required. + Prepares equipment for maintenance (including isolation of energy sources, line and equipment opening) + Issues Safe Work Permits for all types of unit maintenance + Performing routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products + Weigh/pump up of materials for batch preparations + Manual addition of raw materials to process + Participates on Empowered Teams + Follow operating discipline, procedures, and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties + Troubleshoot process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance. + Participate in daily meetings. + Maintain unit housekeeping + Follow the MPWP, and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices. Qualifications – + High School Diploma or GED and one of the following is required: + Associate/equivalent or higher degree. + Currently pursuing an Associates degree in Process Technology and will graduate within the next three (3) months. + In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with three (3) or more years of military service in a technical specialty. + Five (5) or more years of manufacturing experience as a Production Technician/Operator with demonstrated strong technical, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. + Valid US Driver's License and ability to obtain forklift certification upon being hired. + A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. Preferred Skills – + Associates degree or higher in Process Technology, Chemical Instrumentation and /or Electrical or Computer Technology. + Process Technology certification. + Working experience at a Dow facility. + Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly. Physical Demands– + Lift, push, and pull up a minimum of 50 lbs. + Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting. + Stand, walk, stoop, and twist. + Stand 50% of the time. + Walk for extended periods of time + Work at heights, climb stairs, scaffolding, and ladders. + Work in tight and closed in spaces. + Wear all Personal Protective Equipment, as required, including but not limited to full face respirator or SCBA; and FRC clothing while performing outside duties. + Work in an area of intense or continuous noise. + Work in an area with hazardous materials. + Lift hoses and operate valves and similar equipment as a normal part of the job. + Pass physical capabilities test if job offer is received and accepted. + Meet physical requirements for the emergency response team. + This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
