Job Summary

 

Operate forklifts to load flat bed and box trucks. Operate RFGen system. Maintain warehouse organization and assist in performing cycle counts. Employee will be used to fill in on other jobs in plant as required. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily inspections and operation of propane sit down lift trucks.  Pick order and stage orders.  Put together partials per customer order.  Inspect material for quality defects.  Load material on flat bed or box trucks.  Inspect to see if proper material is loaded on truck.  Fill out all paperwork associated with order and/or scan material.  Material handling of all products.  Understand proper radio procedures and use Housekeeping of plant inside and out.  Scrap out, and/or segregate defective product and properly report.  Perform random inventory counts and end of month inventories.  Assist in training of new team members.  Fill in on other areas of the plant as required. (Ex. Line driver, production line, etc.)  Occasional tarping of loads.  Any other duties assigned by supervisor. 

 

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

Knowledge and certification of forklift operations.  Knowledge of entire warehouse layout, product codes, batch numbers.   Complete understanding of entire shipping order.    Basic knowledge of tractor-trailers, air hoses, brakes etc.  Ability to identify possible quality defects.  Ability to identify possible defects on trailers and yard tractor.  Knowledge of safety aspects of all equipment operated as well as the plant’s general safety policies.  Understanding the impact of sending incorrect/defective products.  Ability to operate mobile equipment safely

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience with forklift driving required

Forklift CB radio Office equipment (computer, phone, kiosk) Computer systems (RFGen)

Working Conditions:

Activities occur inside an insulation manufacturing facility. Job includes but are not limited to exposure to the following. Temperatures exposed to both Ambient/outside temperatures. Nuisance dust, use of chemicals, working with mechanical parts, pinch points Noise of industrial machinery Fumes from solvent, forklift exhaust and tractor-trailers Pinch point on moving mechanical parts Heavy equipment operation including forklift and yard tractor Typically 40 hour per week with overtime as required Shift is typically Monday-Friday, 1st shift with start/ending times varied, with weekend work required as production, shipping or warehouse needs dictate Fast paced 24/7 operation

 

Physical Requirements:

Lifting – must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (lifting occasionally 50+ lbs)

Pushing & Pulling – must be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs

Bending & Stooping – must be able to bend and stoop while working on low areas of machines

Reaching – must be able to reach above shoulder level

Climbing – while using stairs or ladders

Walking – must be able to walk to and from different areas of the Carlisle campus

Standing – must be able to stand for the majority of the shift 

Sitting – while working at computers

Sight – must be able to see and recognize hazards, warnings, and equipment malfunctions

Grasping & Dexterity – must be able to use fingers and hands to operate tools 

Talking & Hearing – must be able to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, management, and other employees on the Carlisle campus
