Job Description Summary
The processing operator operates and adjusts all process equipment for smooth and productive operations; monitors lineflow and waste; corrects problems which affect quality and production costs; and makes line changes as directed by the production lead or team leader.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned):
Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.
Changes water knives as needed.
Performs waste evaluations and changes grader screens as needed.
Operates equipment and makes adjustments as needed.
Maintains even lineflow.
Monitors and maintains product quality and attributes.
Communicates with other personnel: line status, quality, and other problems.
Must understand function and hazards of various cleaning chemicals, and must be able to perform various product testing procedures.
Must be able to work independently.
Shoveling product spills.
Completes production forms as required.
Enters checks into computer.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of plant operations and experience working around equipment is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write accurate information on simple forms in English. Ability to effectively present or listen to information in oneonone and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Tools and equipment used are as follows: high pressure hoses, shovels, squeegee, hammer, and hazardous chemicals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Most job functions are performed inside the peeler, preheater and cutter areas. Constantly working on wet, slippery floors. At times, the temperature will rise to 100 degrees or over, high humidity, and lots of equipment vibration and noise.
QUALIFICATION PERIOD:
Not to exceed 60 shifts worked.
