Operator Responsible in Charge (ORC)

Water Plant Operator is responsible for operation, Preventive Maintenance (PM), and repair of the raw water supply, water treatment plants and water distribution systems. Responsibilities • This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. • Operates to the best possible standards providing an uninterrupted water supply. • Makes adjustments to Water Plant equipment, ensuring operation guidelines are followed. • Monitors Water Plant chemistry making chemical adjustments as necessary. • Maintains cleanliness of Water Plant. • Responds to Water Plant casualties with appropriate immediate and subsequent actions. • Ensures efficient and economical operation of station water production equipment. • Maintains logs as required. • Advises the Utility Branch Chief of the status of water production equipment and systems. • Implements and maintains a safe workplace program, ensuring safety is the highest priority. • Performs other duties as required. Material & Equipment Directly Used · Personal computer, laptops, scanners, printers, telephones, 10 key calculators, data devices, and other office related equipment. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. • High school diploma or equivalent • 2 years of Water Treatment Plant or related technical school is highly desirable. • Must possess the necessary education, experience, training, and other qualification requirements for certification as a Navy Class 3 Treatment and Navy Class 1 Distribution operator. • Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) • Must be a U.S. Citizen • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License, is required. Experience: • Steam Plant and/or related technical schools are highly desirable. • 2 years in water production/treatment operations with RO experience. Skills: • Must be able to speak and write the language of the Region. • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language • Able and willing to perform other duties as needed, as skills and program allow. Working Conditions: • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding -10C in winter and 45C in summer. • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 90 degrees in the summer months). • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
