This role will exist within the Intern Program and is intended to attract top performing undergraduate college students who are studying Industrial Engineering, or similar fields. The role is meant to provide undergraduates projects, focused propelling Smith+Nephew forward, while also advancing the student’s career.

The program will provide significant work experiences for Interns along with team building events and social activities when available. Successful candidates for the Intern position will gain valuable experience in medical device industry which could craft career decisions and build future employment opportunities.

What will you be doing?

Work closely with managers to complete specifically identified Intern projects.Present project conclusion to senior leadership.Identify areas of opportunity for Cycle Time reduction and optimization of resources (operators and machines) to increase efficiency.Relay out proposal for specific area being worked on as balancing of workload is established.Establish and update standard times for current products.Update routing in SAP in coordination with Manufacturing Engineer’sBuild standard work and work instruction for operators to follow.

What will you need to be successful?

Must be currently enrolled at an accredited university as an undergraduate majoring in Industrial or similar field.Must be academically considered a sophomore.Must be in excellent academic standing, with a 3.0 or higher.Work on a team.Proven leadership experience with effective project management experience preferred.Strong communication skills including technical writing, listening, and speaking; ability to influence others.High learning agility with the ability to analyze and synthesize data to present to senior leaders.Communicate with multi-functional teams and drive project completion.Assess technical issues and develop solutions using an analytical approach to problem solving.Skilled with Microsoft Excel, knowledge of Power BI is a plus.Independent thinking and the ability to work within a team is required.Requires the ability to manage tight deadlines, multiple tasks, assignment changes, periodic heavy workload, constantly evolving technology, and dynamic business growth; time management and organization skills are a must.
