OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT, OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT I/II- Ophthalmology
**Responsibilities** The Optometric/Ophthalmic Assistant/Ophthalmic I/II is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients seen in the Optometry or Ophthalmology departments. He or she will ensure the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. **Job Title: OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT, OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT I/II- Ophthalmology** **Location: The Woodlands** **Department:** **Ophthalmology** **Job Type: Full Time** **Salary Range: $45,657 - $73,025 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)** **Qualifications** **Education** Required: OA, OA I/II- High School diploma or GED from an accredited program Preferred: OA- N/A OA I- N/A OA II- Graduate of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program **Experience** Required: OA- Minimum of 1 year of prior experience as a Medical Assistant or Optometric/Ophthalmic Assistant or 6 months of experience as a Medical Assistant or Optometric/Ophthalmic Assistant if graduated from an accredited Medical or Ophthalmic Assistant program. OA I- At least 1 year previous work experience under an Ophthalmologist with ophthalmic certification or Graduate of an approved vision technology school. OA II- At least 1 year and 6 months of experience in ophthalmology. Preferred: OA- 1 year in optometric setting. OA I- 2 years of previous work experience under an ophthalmologist. OA II- Five years’ experience. **License(s)** Required: OA- N/A OA I- Certified as OA OA II- Certified Ophthalmic Technician Preferred: N/A **Special Skills** Required: OA- Able to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population. CRT experience. OA I- Able to use NCT, auto refractor, perform gross visual fields and gross motility exam, slit lamp operation, applanation tonometry, operate IOL master, evaluate pupils, use of OCT/HRT, pachymetry, corneal topography and Humphrey VF Knowledge and dosage of ophthalmology drops. OA II- Proficiency with computers. Able to navigate between multiple applications: able to accurately enter data. Able to type 30 words per minute. Able to perform HVG, OCTs, NCT, A-scans, refracting and other diagnostic testing. EPIC, Slit Lamp exam, sensory motor exam, confrontational fields and fundus photography. Preferred: OA- Able to use NCT, Autorefractor, computer related equipment, Lensometer and able to perform K readings. OA I- Able to Scribe, use portable tonopen,, Goldman VF, Fundus photography, Fluroscein Anniogram, Immersion IOL.
