Ophthalmic Assistant
Job Title: Ophthalmic Assistant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to document physician visits in the EMR system, scribe for multiple physicians, handle some instruments as requested by physicians, perform workups after doctor visits with patients, and communicate effectively with patients about procedures and treatments. Essential Skills + Medical assisting + Medical terminology + Patient care + EMR + Scribing + Ophthalmology + Medical documentation + Data entry + Health care + Typing Additional Skills & Qualifications + BS/AS in a life science + Ophthalmic experience preferred + Multi-tasking + High volume of patient care + Driven/'Type A' personality Work Environment The role operates Monday through Friday, with work hours between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM, depending on clinic needs. Training will be conducted at the administrative building in the Galleria for one day. The team comprises 8-24 individuals, with each physician requiring 8 clinic staff. The home clinic will be Memorial, one of the busiest clinics in Houston, seeing 100+ patients a day. Support will also be required at the Katy and another specified clinic. Schedules are provided two weeks in advance, and mileage reimbursement is available for travel to non-home clinics. The environment is extremely fast-paced, with 80-100 patients seen daily. The dress code includes navy blue scrubs, short and groomed nails, and hair tied back.
