Cleveland Clinic’s Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Apprenticeship will provide you with the world’s best experience in how to work with patients in eye care, while improving their well-being and quality of life. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from leading experts in the field, and receive training in patient care, patient examinations and testing procedures. At the end of the program, you will be ready to apply and sit for the JCAHPO certified assistant exam to earn the nationally recognized credential.
Shift & Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM
The apprenticeship will start Monday, January 13, 2025.

Responsibilities:
Under direction of supervisor or physician receives and prepares patients for examination or treatment.Performs initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures and assists physician with related examinations/procedures as directed.May perform routine screening tests.Documents patient information in the patient medical record.Performs clerical, stocking, maintenance and other related duties.Other duties as assigned.Education:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Work Experience:
Prior experience in a customer-facing role; prior experience in a healthcare setting in a patient-facing role preferredAdditional formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for some or all of the stated experience.Previous experience documenting exam findings in Epic is preferred.Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment utilized to perform testing procedures.Manual dexterity to perform various exams and hold equipment; good eye-hand coordination; may require long periods of standing and walking.Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
