Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Support Tech to join our dynamic team in an ophthalmology clinic. This role involves managing service contracts, overseeing inventory, and providing technical support for medical devices. You will act as the liaison between vendors and our IT staff, ensuring smooth operation of networked ophthalmic equipment. This is a behind-the-scenes role that requires a tech-savvy individual with a strong understanding of ophthalmology equipment and medical terminology.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain and oversee service contracts for multiple ophthalmology sites.Update retirement records and coordinate with inventory management on old or newly acquired devices, including applying asset stickers.Liaise with vendors for troubleshooting and case creation for networked and exam lane hardware.Support training on ophthalmic devices and hardware for staff across all sites.Act as the point of contact for incident tickets, working with IT to maintain device functionality and address issues.Operate networked ophthalmic equipment within the clinic workflow, utilizing tools like Epic MWL, Forum, and advanced storage systems.Retrieve patient data across devices to assist tech teams in addressing missing patient information.Develop training documents for consistent processes across sites.Manage and resolve issues with discontinued or incorrectly billed orders, aiding communication among techs, physicians, and billing.Ensure HIPAA compliance, track and resolve incorrect patient data, and update incident records across all sites.Essential SkillsOphthalmic Tech experienceMedical device support expertiseOphthalmology experienceAbility to maintain vendor relationshipsTech-savvy with strong troubleshooting skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsUnderstanding of optometry medical/equipment terminology and functionsProfessional and reliable demeanorAbility to develop training documentsExperience in managing incident tickets and working with IT teamsWork Environment
This role is based in an extremely busy ophthalmology practice. You will work primarily behind the scenes and may need to travel to other sites within New Haven County to address technical issues. The environment is fast-paced, and you will interact with various stakeholders, including vendors, IT staff, and billing departments. Your work will ensure the seamless operation of our clinical support systems, contributing to the overall efficiency of our practice.
