Requirements for consideration:

High School diploma or GED  Three years as an Ophthalmic Technician Hospital experience must be within the last five years.  Ophthalmic technician certification, highly preferred Experience working with pediatric population desired

Job Responsibilities:

The Ophthalmic Technician performs comprehensive testing and eye evaluations to ensure optimum vision for all Eye Clinic patients.  Performs various testing (e.g. visual field tests, acuity testing, color vision testing, potential acuity meter testing, biometric A-scans, external and slit lamp examinations, and pachymetry testing). Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery by incorporating data and information to continuously improve care and practice while enhancing patient outcomes.  Conducts routine cleaning, maintenance, calibration, and minor adjustments/repairs on all clinic equipment. Notifies the appropriate department for additional maintenance. Performs the surgical scheduling process for all Eye Clinic patients. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while showing respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines. May perform additional duties as assigned.
