Responsibilities
SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the ophthalmologist by gathering data pertaining to the patient’s visual status by maintaining an environment conducive to the delivery of efficient quality eye care. The ophthalmic technician is able to effectively perform appropriate clinical testing by previous form education and or clinical experience which allows an understanding of the theory, principals of eye care.

History takingVisual acuity measurementRefractometry (measurements for the glasses prescription)Tonometry (measure eye pressure)Measure pupil size and reactivityTest and measure eye muscle functionVisual field testingCorneal thickness measurementCorneal curvature measurementCorneal topographyRetinal nerve fiber layer measurementRetinal thickness and topographyFluorescein angiographyA and B-scan ultrasonographyAssist with contact lens fitting, and patient instructionPrepare for and assist with in-office proceduresSurgical assistingPerformed other duties as assigned:
