Ophthalmic Technician
Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform specialized testing procedures, conduct preliminary screening examinations, and set up, operate, and maintain various equipment. This role involves assisting patients with transfers and maintaining inventory and equipment quality control. Responsibilities + Perform specialized testing procedures appropriate to the specialty. + Conduct preliminary screening examinations for physician review. + Review patient’s chart, patient’s condition, and physician’s notes to plan and determine the method of testing. + Position patients for testing. + Set up, operate, and maintain equipment to conduct tests and procedures. + Assist patients with transfers to/from wheelchairs, stretchers, and exam tables. + Report equipment problems and act as a liaison with repair personnel. + Maintain quality control checks and log service records. + Order and maintain inventory of supplies. + Maintain disposal inventory per department protocol regarding date of use/disposal. + Perform additional functions related to clinical activities. Essential Skills + 3+ years of experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or glaucoma. + Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COA, COT, COMT). + Experience with Epic. + Experience with manual refractions. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent. + Certification is preferred. + Required experience in the field. Work Environment The work environment is a large and busy faiclity. The facility handles 200-250 patients a day, with a team of 22 other technicians, multiple MAs, and receptionists. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a one-hour lunch break.
