Ophthalmology Assistant

Work where you matter.** **A Brief Overview** Accountable for greeting patients either in person or over the telephone. Performs the initial evaluation by obtaining medical history, patient concerns, performs examination tests and prepares equipment for physician as needed. Assists with surgical procedures, administers topical medications or diagnostic drugs prescribed by the physician. **What you will do** + Ensures examination rooms are properly stocked, cleaned and that equipment is ready and in working order for daily use. + Rooms and prepares patient, obtaining information: ophthalmic, medical, family and social history and patient concerns. + Performs opening examination tests and prepares equipment for physician following established policies, procedures and guidelines. + Is proficient in the electronic health record for all aspects of the ophalmic evaluation. + Assists physician with office surgical and non-surgical procedures and arranging required instruments for procedures prior to scheduled appointment. + Assists with answering phones, making appointments, filing, prior authorizations, etc. + Coordinates and manages clinic inventory. + Contacts pharmacy when appropriate for refills following established policies, procedures, and guidelines. **Essential Qualifications** The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
