Will be verified by graduate school transcript. + At least 1 post-graduate level course in Biostatistics. Will be verified by graduate school transcript. + Valid Florida Driver’s License and access to personal transportation. + Emergency Duty PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + At least one (1) year professional experience conducting epidemiological reportable disease case investigations at a state, tribal, local or territorial health department. + Experience in infection prevention and control activities or an equivalent combination of education or training. + Experience creating and maintaining databases, performing data analysis and visualization and scientific report writing. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a highly responsible position that works as an Epidemiologist in the Florida Department of Health in Orange County (DOH-Orange). This position will focus on increasing the capacity at the local health department to prevent and reduce diseases in the community. This position will conduct best practices and interventions for emerging and re-merging diseases through case and outbreak investigations, data collection and analysis, outreach events for prevention. This position: • Generates reports, data metrics, and presentations as needed, accurately and timely. • Attends or leads community meetings to provide partnership and education on diseases and related topics. • Conducts surveillance and enhances communication between the Florida Department of Health in Orange County and healthcare facilities, congregate settings, and high-risk community settings. • Conducts enhanced surveillance, investigate disease cases, and respond to disease outbreaks. The incumbent will be skilled in the use of syndromic surveillance systems, statistical software, and informatics systems that facilitate department objectives. • Participates in emergency response, including deployments away from home, as assigned. Is required to participate in emergency activities, such as but not limited to sheltering, natural disasters, and bioterrorism related events. • Participates in quality improvement projects and trainings. • Develops reports, attends trainings, and performs other duties as necessary.
