SPECIAL NOTES:
High School Diploma or equivalentrequired.
Additionalrequirements:
+ Two (2) years of experience in Fire Science or Public Safety. An associate degree in a relevant field from an accredited college may substitute for the required years of experience.
+ Active Florida Firefighter Compliance Certification (633.408, .412 FS)
+ FLUSAR Rescue Specialist Certificate of Compliance (69A-37.065 FAC)
+ Florida Fire Office Certification (69A-37.065)
Preferences:
+ Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree.
+ Prior supervisory experience.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position will be filled at $25.00 per hour and work approximate 25 hours per week.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application and any omission, falsification, or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE,
+ Ability to work as a team member and leader.
+ Able to respond calmly and effectively when under stress interacting with people who are in crisis, including but not limited to people experiencing mental illness or chemical dependency.
+ Good written, verbal and electronic communication skills.
+ Develop reliable relationships with multi-agencies within the State of Florida.
+ Facilitate a debrief at the end of every search and rescue deployment event and document all participants and meet their needs.
+ Ability to serve as the DSFM Urban Search and Rescue, Technical Rescue Field Liaison.
+ Prior supervisory experience preferred.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Liaison between the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Florida’s US&R Task Force Team.
Liaison between the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Florida’s Technical Rescue Teams.
Organize and oversee Operational Readiness Evaluations/Self-Assessments for the US&R Task Forces, and Technical Rescue Teams.
Coordinate multi-agency search and rescue exercises partnering within the Florida National Guard, Florida State Guard, Florida Forest Service, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, Florida Division of Emergency Management, and other partner agencies.
Create a framework under which the Technical Rescue Teams can train their personnel to the Operations Level FLUSAR standard.
Participate in disaster and emergency response planning and exercises with the Division of Emergency Management and partner agencies.
Participate on the State Domestic Security Resource Fire Committee.
Plan for Operational Readiness Evaluations of Florida’s Urban Search and Rescue and Technical Research Teams.
Assist with the coordination and distribution of equipment from State Homeland Security Grants and post deployment replenishment to Florida’s Urban Search and Rescue and Technical Rescue Teams.
Serve as the DSFM State EOC ESF 4/9 US&R Liaison/DSFM IMT SME.
Other duties as assigned.
