A state-of-the-art vision care center in Kalispell, Montana, is hiring an Optical Dispenser. This busy office is a full-service optical and ophthalmologic surgery center, providing the community with comprehensive eye care and an individualized touch. They strive to provide the highest level of medical care in a thoughtful and personal way.
The Optical Dispenser plays a key role in eye care by helping patients choose the right glasses and contact lenses. They work closely with eye doctors to ensure patients get the best vision correction and provide guidance on lens options, frame styles, and eyewear care. Strong communication skills and knowledge of optical products and trends are essential for this position. However, they are willing to train the right person if you are wanting to get into a new industry
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Starting Pay: $17.50/hour, depending on experience

Essential Functions and Duties: Help patients choose eyewear that fits their prescription and style Use measurements and fitting techniques to ensure lenses and frames are comfortable and effective and perform adjustments and minor repairs as needed Educate patients on lens options and enhancements like antireflective coatings and polarized lenses and progressive lenses and stay informed about optical trends and new technologies Take precise measurements for accurate eyewear ordering and verify and interpret optical prescriptions to ensure correct lens fabrication Maintain detailed and organized patient records Work with optometrists and ophthalmologists to address patient concerns
Preferred Qualifications (Training Provided): Some retail sales experience required Good communication skills with patients and colleagues Ability to multitask in a busy environment Basic understanding of insurance billing and coding Organizational skills for maintaining records and inventory Attention to detail for accurate measurements and prescriptions Basic knowledge of lenses, frames, and optical products Familiarity with optical equipment (e.g., lensometers, pupillometers)
