Job Description

  

Job Summary:

The Optical Engineer will work with the interdisciplary engineering team designing and developing new optical prescriptions for complex zoom and multispectral imaging systems for new and modified existing optical systemst products. The job will design develop, tolerance, and analyze complex IR and multispectral optical system. The position will also develop and maintain detailed design documentation and support the DFM and DFA activities and cost estimates and estimating new efforts.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Work with Senior Optical engineers in the design and development of optical prescriptionsTolerance and analyze optical systems performance over temperatureWork with the Opto mechanical engineers to ensure the optical design intent is consistent with DFM and DFA implemented by the Opto mechanical engineersSupport the design and development of assembly and test fixtures to ensure they are consistent with the optical design, tolerances, and intentCreate and maintain accurate documentationPrepare and support Design review activities Support production and QA with debug of issues and RMA assessments

Job Qualifications:

Technical degree with over 5 years related work experience. (BS engineering or Physics)Experience with imaging optical design principles, with some lens development experience Basic competence with Zemax or CODEV or FRED or other optical design packageExperience with Infra optical systems and radiometry a plusStrong communication skills, particularly with highly technical content Ability to support multiple projects and competing priorities.Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
