OPTICAL INSTRUMENT REPAIRER
Summary THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is part of the IN CSMS 1, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D1211000. Responsibilities Repairs, modifies, overhauls, inspects, troubleshoots, tests, adjusts, and cleans the optics and supporting mechanical and electrical elements of complex panoramic telescopes. Visually inspects optical instrument equipment and operates mechanisms to determine serviceability, damaged or worn parts, and malfunctions. Abides by safety precautions when working with compressors, hoses, and tank testing equipment. Serves as a commodity inspector during technical inspections, Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET) or Maintenance Assistance and (MAIT) Instruction Team. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E9 & W1 through CW2 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the ability to apply knowledge of optical theory and construction principles in order to test, repair, align, and collimate a variety of complex optical equipment. Experience which demonstrates the ability to understand and apply instructions, and specifications; and interpret blueprints and diagrams of optical paths and mechanical linkages. Experience using hand and power tools common to an optical shop. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training repairing, rebuilding, overhauling systems and components of optical instrument equipment. Experience in diagnosing malfunction in determining remedy where complex relationships exist among optical systems and supporting mechanical and electrical systems. Experience in the use of a variety of measuring and testing equipment. Experience interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, schematics and work orders.
