You will collaborate with design engineering on the release of new lens products. You will estimate manufacturing costs, calculate time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new and existing product lines. You will support troubleshooting optical, electrical, and mechanical issues in production. Under ISO 9001:2015 certification and Global Trade Compliance policies, you will thoroughly maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. The work environment is mixed general office, lab, and manufacturing floor. **Duties & Responsibilities:** + Development and improvement of processes for production of infrared lenses + Create, review, and update assembly and test instructions and checklists meeting all regulatory and internal standards + Support development of new products by creating testing report templates that confirm compliance to customer specifications + Support production and QA with troubleshooting of issues and RMA assessments + Use optical design software to identify then resolve issues during alignment and testing of infrared lenses + Train production technicians in existing and new processes and intermittently audit established processes + Implement Lean/5S manufacturing principals and techniques to maintain an environment of continuous improvement + Justify, specify, and procure new equipment and tooling as required to support development and production programs + Work with the Engineering team to ensure that accurate specifications are used for product assessment and validation + Align and test optical systems using interferometry, alignment telescope, and optical inspection devices. + Environmental testing of opto-mechanical systems using thermal chambers and vibration machines **Knowledge and Experience** + Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related technical discipline required + 5+ years of related experience desired + Basic competence with Zemax or CODEV or other optical design package + Experience with imaging optical design principles, with some lens development experience + Experience with Infra optical systems and radiometry a plus + Ability to develop assembly process documentation required + Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel & Outlook required + Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English required + Lean/5S training and experience required + Six sigma green belt desired **_Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce._** Teledyne and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
