Meet the Team
You will work within the silicon photonics and subassembly reliability team, a group of scientists and engineers passionate about bringing the latest innovative products in optical communications developed by our engineering team to market at speed and with best-in-class reliability. We work closely with our engineering design and manufacturing teams to understand the latest technologies being productized and to develop testing that ensures this product will meet our customers' requirements for the product's lifetime.
Your Impact The reliability engineer will lead the design and execution of qualification and reliability testing of Acacia products under the direction of the reliability manager. Design qualification plans for the initiation of a new product. Develop test platforms and/or adapt existing test platforms and fixturing to implement qualification plans. Qualify new products per GR-468 and JEDEC standards, perform long-term reliability testing and calculations for novel photonic packages, and die to demonstrate suitable lifetimes in operation. Investigate failures and work closely with design and process development teams to resolve the failure's root cause and implement reliability improvements. Assist in component/vendor failure analysis, working closely with design engineering and manufacturing to drive corrective action. Assist in lab maintenance activities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's in Optical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science or related discipline with 5 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 3 years of experience Experience working with optical/ photonic devices. Experience with scripting/coding. E.g., Python, C, C++, Labview Preferred Qualifications PhD + 1 year of related experience Experience with reliability standards Familiarity with reliability calculations (failure rates, lifetime, confidence) Familiarity with relevant standards (GR-468 and JEDEC) Willingness to learn and curiosity about quality and reliability engineering for optical communications, components, and systems Familiarity with the development of custom test racks and software to drive qualification testing Willingness to learn about Design for Reliability and Physics of Failure Analysis techniques and models, Failure analysis, Knowledge and experience with Physical and electrical characterization techniques We Are Cisco
