Perform basic review of clients' eyeglass prescriptions to identify optimal design of lenses. Select and adjust frames to fit clients' facial structure. Measure and record client data relating to specific eyeglass fitting. Calculate lens measurement specifications. Assist students to select and purchase glasses. Maintain inventory and encourage retail sales of frames, lenses, and contact lenses. Collect and process payments for purchases. Inspect finished spectacles to ensure compliance with American National Standards Institute tolerances. Answer telephones, screen calls and take messages. Respond to patient inquiries, directing them as appropriate or providing information.
QualificationsRequired Education:
High School diploma or an equivalent and American Board of Opticianry certification.
Preferred Education:
Associates degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing.
Required Experience:
2 years' related experience.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in a health care facility providing patient care.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Knowledge of and ability to operate a variety of ophthalmic equipment.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $34.829. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
