DuPont E&I has an opening for an Optimization Engineer in the Rapid Customer Sampling (RCS) Team in Chemical Mechanical Planarization Technology (CMPT) research and development organization. This exciting position is responsible for developing customer samples and optimizing parts for high volume manufacturing (HVM), product transfer from RCS to HVM, ensuring that the product transfers meet quality, safety, and productivity targets established for the transfer process.  

This group performs a key function that allows the CMPT business to aggressively engage our customers with new product samples. ​​ 

Your Key Responsibilities:  

Develop customer samples and optimize parts for HVM based on yield & quality

Support RCS Technicians in manufacturing RCS Samples for customers and internal experimental studies

Responsible for collecting data on parts being transferred to demonstrate that transfer criteria is met and facilitate product transfer meetings with module manufacturing engineers and technical advisors (TA)

SME on all aspects of part setup process and steps required to integrate new parts into HVM work processes

Facilitate part transfer into HVM and addresses process/part setup issues associated with optimization parts

Collaborate with sister sites to ensure learnings on new products are shared and process development is aligned

Work with Development Engineers (scale-up and R&D) on product development and help identify barriers and optimization needs early in stage gate process

Active involvement in supporting of production of optimization parts, including part setup review, SPC management, scheduling needs, engineering oversight of process orders, change management for product recipes and techniques, as needed based on unique product performance

Track and report on key optimization metrics, such as part movement in and out of optimization MRP controllers, and optimization yields, process stability, and quality

Work with Global Technical Guardians (GTGs) to define Most Effective Technology (MET) for new configurations and ensure all prototype parts utilize this standard

Work on optimization projects that may span multiple product families, as needed to improve site matching, quality, and cycle time of parts

Maintain Optimization documents (SOPs, training, etc.)

Network with other engineers on site and within the business to leverage experience and knowledge

Your Qualification Profile:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial engineering field required.

2+ years of manufacturing experience is required. Most preferred is experience in conversions or finishing of CMP products.  All chemical manufacturing experience will be considered

Strong grasp of statistical and analytical methods including and understanding SPC.

Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader or higher Certification is desirable.

Experience with CAD software and CAM software is preferred.

Experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment is preferred.

Candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills that will be required for working along a cross section of departments.
