Opto-Mechanical Development Technician

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers in support of NPI (New Product Introduction) and CIP (Continuous Improvement Project) activities.   Active participant in Design Reviews & equipment requirements creation.  Participation in the development of optical test benches & production equipment.  Participate in component selection, procurement, and inventory management (of assigned projects).  Mechanical assembly of precision optical equipment.  Wire routing & dressing.  Execution of Validation / qualification plans for custom built optical & production equipment.  Prepares technical reports summarizing findings.  Maintain a clean, organized lab environment- 5S.    Work with calibration department to maintain equipment calibration for assigned work area.

Minimum Education & Experience

 

H.S. Diploma  Proficiency with the following Programs:  MS Outlook & Teams  MS Excel  MS Power Point Familiarity with CAD navigation, (or willingness to learn). Hands-on experience with industrial lasers, opto-mechanical systems, and diagnostic equipment such as infrared detectors, oscilloscopes, function generators, and data acquisition systems.  Experience in assembling and testing opto-mechanical sub-systems. Optics handling and alignment. 

Preferred Education & Experience

 

Associate degree, technical degree or military training.  3 – 5 years of experience in lasers or related electro-optic systems.   3 - 5 Years of experience assembling automation systems.  Basic sheet metal fabrication and/or metal machining experience.  Lean Manufacturing.  Proficiency with the following Programs:   Solid Works Oracle / Agile Experience soldering electronics. 

Physical Requirements

 

Ability to lift / move equipment up to 50 lbs.  Ability to use stand for hours & use hand tools.
