**Description**
The Flaum Eye Institute (FEI) and the Department of Ophthalmology at The University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York has an opening for a full-time Optometrist.
The position involves working with the Flaum Eye Institute’s Comprehensive Eye Care Services and satellite offices. The scope of practice is to provide comprehensive eye care, including the refraction and dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, cataract co-management, and care of dry eyes. We are highly integrated with our Optical Shops and also offer a comprehensive contact lens service including the fitting and management of specialty contact lenses.
As FEI is a highly specialized practice, the Optometrist works collaboratively with many subspecialists including the fields of retina, glaucoma, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, refractive surgery, and pediatric ophthalmology. There are academic opportunities in teaching and research. The Optometrist can utilize his/her degree to the fullest in our academic environment.
**Qualifications**
Completion of a residency is recommended but not required. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of New York. Candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Optometry. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials. The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
