Summary:
Provide high quality optometric care and service to patients. Work collaboratively with the Ophthalmologist(s) and Ophthalmology Residents in providing care, refer patients with disease and/or findings, and co-manage patients under the supervision of an Ophthalmologist as appropriate. Works collaboratively with all clinic and administrative staff.

SCHEDULE: Days with on-call responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities (job may require all or most of the following):
Perform standard eye exams for patients on a daily basis
Check for evidence of disease, injury, or other problems impacting vision
Provide prescriptions for corrective lenses as needed
Listen to and address patient’s questions and concerns
Educate patients regarding eye care and visions correction options
Analyze results from all tests conducted and share results with patients
Prescribe medications as needed
Utilize all equipment properly, ensuring it is in good working order
Coordinate care with staff to meet patient’s needs
Check prescription and fit of corrective lenses
Record all tests, prescriptions, and treatments in patient’s medical record
Participate in staff development and training
Establish a positive Doctor/Patient relationship
Work collaboratively with Ophthalmologists and Ophthalmology Residents
Assists/participates with Quality initiatives
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of optometry
2-3 years related work experience preferred
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
Licensed to practice Optometry in in the State of New York
Certification in the Administration of Topical Diagnostic Pharmaceuticals (DPAS ) required
Certification in Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) required
