Under the supervision of the OR Clinical Coordinator, the OR Aide is responsible for performing assigned duties entailing the decontamination, preparation and distribution of surgical equipment, room turnover and other tasks as assigned as they relate to room turnovers between cases.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Will clean floors and equipment according to regulatory standards after cases in preparation for next case in each room.
• Accurately handles and cares for equipment appropriately, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents.
• Dispenses supplies, equipment, and instruments in the OR, Endoscopy
• Performs related work as required.
• Documents and maintains relevant data and communicates data to appropriate parties.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment.
• Transport Patients and assists with positioning patients in the operating room.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and acts as a patient advocate.
• Participates in performance improvement.
• Approaches situations with distressed patients, families and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
• Performs various requested tasks as directed to maintain the department.
Education: High School Diploma/GED required.
Certification: CPR required.
Additional Experience Preferred
• Current knowledge of clinical practice.
• Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment: copy machine, intercom system, telephones, computer and fax machine.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Effectively handles frequent interruptions and distractions.
