OR Sterile Processing Liaison

The Operating Room (OR) Sterile Processing Liaison coordinates and facilitates the case cart process to ensure timely delivery of case carts from the sterile processing department (SPD) to the operating room. This position gathers material from surgical packs, supplies, and instruments then enters the completed cart into the system and delivers the cart to the OR.
Reviews the surgery schedule, together with the SPD Manager, ensuring that all surgical procedures have an accurate case cart, and coordinates delivery /retrieval.
Keeps track of case flow during the day, monitors instrument needs, and notifies SPD personnel in advance of any possible additional/emergent instrumentation needs.
Communicates to the surgical team all essential instrumentation information that may affect or delay surgery start time.
Returns and restocks all unused sterile instruments to their appropriate location.
Assembles instruments and trays accurately and completely according to the component list and sterilization requirements.
Inspects instruments for defective/broken parts, tagging for repair, and replacing on tray or set.
Packages individual medical supplies and instruments using the correct or appropriate packing materials.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:Required: 2 years of experience in surgical instrument processing or experience as a surgical technologist
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Certified Central Sterile Technician (CRCST), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), and/or Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) will be acceptable.
