Oracle Database Administration Senior Advisor
Enterprise Database Services is looking for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator who has extensive experience in designing and supporting oracle databases with a strong understanding of database concepts, performance tuning, troubleshooting and root cause analysis. The ability to troubleshoot complex SQL performance issues with a deep understanding of SQL execution plans and different SQL tuning techniques is required. Work with engineers and help drive the vision of providing a best in industry array of database platform offerings that align with Cigna’s business needs across the enterprise and provide them in a secure and automated way. Roles and Responsibilities + Experience with database standard concepts, practices and procedures are required. Experience tracking these items within a large-scale environment and communicate to diverse groups accordingly. + Self-directed and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment with minimal supervision as well as provide direction and oversight to application team. + Must have hands-on Oracle 12c & 19c experience with latest tuning and optimization techniques, review of SQL and PL/SQL code to identify performance issues, in-depth knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL is a must. + Skilled at both logical and system levels desired. + Provides counsel and advice to management and engineers on significant Database Administration & Management matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. + Collaborate with Stakeholders, Tech lead and Team members to discuss the requirements and implement in an efficient way. + Analyzes, designs, creates, and implements solutions for complex environment including automated installation, configuration, maintenance and operation of all infrastructure services in a way that supports speed, agility, security and resiliency. + Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices. + Liaisons with database software vendors and external technical support on issues such as software upgrades, problems and potential solutions. + Focuses on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines. + Build, maintain and monitor configuration standards. + Document and design various Infrastructure automation processes; update existing automation processes. + Configuring metrics and alerts for monitoring and develop ways to improve. + Recognized internally as “the go-to person” for the most complex Database Administration solutions. + Provide consultation to Application Development teams on SQL and PL/SQL best practices. + Extensive experience leading troubleshooting calls with various infrastructure and application teams. + Efficiently work with Oracle vendor to find root cause for complex database issues. + In-Depth knowledge of Oracle wait events to troubleshoot complex performance issues is a must. + In-depth knowledge in Linux and storage internals that influence database activity is a must. + Install and manage Oracle Database Software, build databases per requirements and standards, and set up database backups. + Install and manage Oracle ClusterWare and troubleshoot issues with ClusterWare processes. + Proficient with restoring and recovering of oracle databases using RMAN is required, must be able to restore databases from block corruptions and logical corruptions, and recover the database to Point-In-Time. + Apply Quarterly Patches to Database, Standalone Grid Infrastructure, and ClusterWare and troubleshoot any issues with patching (requires good understanding of the oracle internal processes). + Setup and Manage Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Infrastructure, and setup monitoring using OEM for database environments. + Automation of routine database operations using Ansible, Splunk, Python or other like tools is highly desirable with broad understanding of CI/CD tools. + Participate in 24*7 On-call support to resolve Incident tickets and be responsible for database availability. + Strong relational and dimensional data-modeling is required in addition to experience designing and developing new databases and schemas. + Required experience with tools such as, Monitoring tools: Splunk, Dynatrace etc.; Scheduling tools: ESP; DBA tools: TOAD; Modeling Tools: ER STUDIO, ERWIN, or equivalent. + Mentor team members to develop talent. + Replication with Goldengate and QLIK experience is a plus. Experience/Education + 8+ years of relevant experience and knowledge of Oracle database administration with Exadata , ExaCC, oracle 11g, 12c, 19c, Oracle RAC, Dataguard, GoldenGate and ASM in Linux is required. + 3+ years of hands-on experience with Automation tools and technologies like Ansible, GitHub, and similar CI/CD technologies. + In-depth knowledge in OS and Storage internals that influence database activity. + Skilled at both logical and system levels desired. + Strong detailed analytical skills + Dealing with ambiguity and problem solving + Exemplary Written and Verbal Communications + Ability to stay very organized while managing multiple tasks and activities and takes initiative and is a self-starter. + Other database technologies like PostgreSQL, MongoDB is a plus. + Strong collaboration skills and experience working across multiple teams both within a division and enterprise wide. + Strong Team Lead skills + Strong interpersonal, problem solving, facilitation, and prioritization skills. + Strong technical acumen, able to ensure that technical solutions, strategies, practices, and governance deliver business and customer value. + Development experience with one or more modern scripting/automation languages (Ansible, Python, etc.) - preferred + Energy, integrity, and strong work ethic If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload. **About The Cigna Group** Doing something meaningful starts with a simple decision, a commitment to changing lives.
