Position Description:
The Database Systems Architect position will focus on Oracle DBA tasks as well as technical work related to the administration of all computerized database management systems, data resources residing in those systems and the facilitation of data sharing among users. Work in this area involves the use of database software packages to ensure data integrity, consistency, security, recovery, database space management, and database schema management. This individual has advanced knowledge of database systems that will allow this individual to serve as a mentor to lower team members and handle complex problems with little assistance. You will be heavily involved with developing procedures and standards to enable the continuous availability and improvement of the database assets. Additionally, you will be heavily involved with database design and modeling techniques and be will be required to handle complex problems with little assistance. Will be an active team member, may have leadership responsibilities of others.
Principal Responsibilities:
Will be required to support enterprise-wide, mission-critical databases with little support or assistance. Will be involved with the planning, installation, implementation and configuration of company databases. Incumbent will be required to write necessary procedures and develop standards that will make these systems available 24*7. Will be required to participate in 24*7 on call support of company databases. Will analyze and participate in the security and data integrity controls for all of the computerized database resources. Will participate in the analysis and design function for new and existing systems to ensure adherence to technical standards, data standards and integration with other applications. Will be involved with the planning and implementation of database backup and recovery procedures. Will work across functional support areas to tune databases for optimal performance. Will be required to translate business requirements into technical requirements and assist other team members in implementing the solution. May evaluate enterprise wide database infrastructure and develop detailed analysis reports and recommendations for those database systems. May be involved with the planning, design and implementation of databases on a variety of platforms. May participate in the planning, acquisition, and implementation of systems and application software.
Required Experience and Education:
Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, Technology 5+ years of experience in Information Technology, with 2+ years of experience in database systems preferably Oracle.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of operating systems, client/server architectures and standards. Advanced knowledge of all currently used database applications. Advanced knowledge of data modeling, logical and physical database design and implementation. Good understanding of middleware standards, networking technology and protocols.
