Oral Surgery Assistant
Overview We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Oral Surgery Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience assisting with a variety of oral surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety. As an Oral Surgery RDA, you will work closely with the oral surgeon to prepare patients, manage instruments, and ensure the surgical environment is sterile and well-organized. Schedule (days/hours) Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday 5a-3p Responsibilities Assist the Oral Surgeon: Provide chairside assistance during oral surgical procedures, including tooth extractions (simple and complex), dental implant placement, bone grafting, wisdom tooth extractions, and other oral surgeries. Sterilization & Infection Control: Ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and treatment areas are sterilized and maintained in strict compliance with infection control standards. Surgical Preparation: Set up and prepare the surgical area with necessary tools, instruments, and materials, ensuring all equipment is functioning and ready for use. Radiographs: Take and develop high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) as required by the oral surgeon to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning. Patient Monitoring: Assist in monitoring patients during surgery, ensuring their comfort and safety. Provide suction, retraction, and assist with anesthesia delivery during procedures. Patient Care: Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients, explaining care instructions for recovery and managing pain relief. Patient Records: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatments, procedures, and progress. Ensure proper documentation of medications and medical histories. Pain Management: Assist with the administration of local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (if trained and certified), ensuring proper patient sedation levels. Emergency Protocols: Be prepared to assist in emergency situations by following established protocols for patient safety and rapid response. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory for oral surgery supplies, ensuring that surgical instruments, medications, and other necessary materials are stocked and ready for procedures. Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling surgeries, coordinating patient appointments, and completing necessary paperwork. Provide excellent customer service to patients, ensuring a positive experience throughout their surgical process. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the oral surgeon and dental team to ensure a smooth, efficient, and well-coordinated surgical environment. Help train and mentor less experienced team members as needed.
