Order Entry Technician
Job Title: Order Entry TechnicianJob Description The Order Entry/Customer Service Pharmacy Technician is responsible for order entry and triage. This includes handling incoming calls, directing them appropriately, and communicating with LTC Facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians. The technician processes drug orders from faxes and other forms, answers medication-related questions, and assesses patient profiles for order placement. They highlight pertinent information on forms and send them to order entry for processing. Technicians are responsible for about 15-30 calls per day and handle new admissions to LTC facilities. They also troubleshoot order issues by reviewing orders and understanding the Automatic Dispensing Unit. When entering orders, technicians process approximately 40-45 medication orders per hour. This role is straightforward and repetitive. Responsibilities + Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately. + Communicate with LTC Facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians. + Process drug orders from faxes and other forms. + Answer medication-related questions. + Assess patient profiles for order placement. + Highlight pertinent information on forms and send to order entry. + Handle about 15-30 calls per day. + Manage new admissions to LTC facilities. + Troubleshoot order issues by reviewing orders and understanding the Automatic Dispensing Unit. + Enter approximately 40-45 medication orders per hour. Essential Skills + Knowledge of SIG codes. + Registered Pharmacy Technician with the state of MN. + 6+ months of pharmacy experience in a retail or LTC setting. + Experience in retail should include typing orders and knowledge of SIG codes. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Customer Service experience. + Data Entry experience. + Experience in retail pharmacies like CVS, Walgreens, etc. Work Environment The technician will work in an office environment with approximately 12 teammates. Each technician will have their own cubicle and access to team leads and managers who sit nearby. This is a quiet, production-based environment with repetitive tasks. The team handles all incoming phone calls, faxes, and electronic orders. The role involves triaging documents and orders, with team members typing the orders. Technicians will also do transfers to retail pharmacies. The shifts include mid & late shifts, with the need for availability to work all shifts. Morning shift is 8-4:30pm, mid shift 10:30-7pm, and late shift 2:30-11pm. Training for the first month will be during the mid-shift. Technicians will work every other weekend or every third weekend, sometimes both days or just a Sunday. Saturday shifts are 9-5:30pm and 11:30-8pm. Sunday shift is 10-6:30pm. Technicians will still work 5 days a week, with days off based on the schedule.
