Position Description:
The Natural Gas Marketing team is looking to add an experienced Originator to the team. An ideal candidate would have both origination and trading experience; however both are not required. The Originator will be responsible for new growth business development activities through existing and new customer relationships. This position will be charged with creating new deal flow and gross margin for KM Gas Marketing.
Key Responsibilities include:
Develop internal and external relationships to create new value for Kinder Morgan through structured transactions including term supply, transportation and storageFind, generate, and close physical gas transactions accretive to the portfolioDetermine the best risk/reward based on size and scope of the enterprise, not simply being everything to all customersAssist in developing economic analysis and supporting materials used by senior management for deal approvals, strategy discussions, and internal reportingCommercial deal review of transactions and fostering transactions through the internal process to ensure organizational support and buy inParticipate in business plan and strategy for the Gas Marketing team in concert with various other desks and Senior LeadershipReview past deals to understand best practices and propose process changes as requiredPerform other duties as assigned*Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalentEquivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degreeExperience:
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in natural gas with commercial, financial evaluation and deal structuring experienceDemonstrated experience in generating positive Gross MarginExperience working with various internal departmentsExperience with NAESB’s and other commercial contractsProven track record of innovation, creativity and success in closing customer businessRequired Skills and Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of the US natural gas market infrastructure and operationsCurrent or previous experience natural gas trading or originating in US marketsAbility to perform in a high-pressure environmentStrong bias for action and attention to detailAbility to lead peers, and develop othersStrong knowledge of deal structuring and hedgingPossess the ability to excel under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, rapidly process information and make decisions based on changing market dynamicsStrong networking, communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of risk managementUnderstanding of legal and compliance informationExtensive working knowledge of ExcelPreferred Experience/Skills/Knowledge (not required, but advantageous):
Prior physical trading experience a plusExpertise in gas operations, trading and schedulingWorking Conditions:
