Ortho Trauma Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Job Description

The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to care for Orthopaedic Trauma patients. Working at the Shock Trauma Center, you become a vital part of a trauma team which cares for patients from admission through discharge.

This position is 4 10-hour shifts, with rotating days.

The NP/PA performs examination, evaluation, assessment and interpretation of clinical data to provide care to the patients with orthopaedic injuries.  Professional practice is in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team.  Our Department of Orthopaedics serves as a referral center for patients in Maryland and beyond. This position entails working some days where you will work solely on the floor, and other days that you will be in an ambulatory outpatient clinic. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Interview patients for health history and perform physical examinationOrder and evaluate appropriate diagnostic and laboratory testsDocument H & P, progress notes, and treatment plansAct as liaison between patients and physicians to coordinate recommended patient care as well as pre- and post-operative care.Caring for patients in both the clinic and hospital setting.Participate in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement meetingsCompany Description

Qualifications

What You Need to Be Successful:
 

Education/Training – Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Bachelor's degree required OR a Master of Science degree, with completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program.Experience – Experience is preferred, but not necessary. New graduates are welcome to apply. License/Certification – National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification. Current license with the Maryland Board of Physicians. OR Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Nursing, and certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of specialization Must have CRNP - Acute Care or PA-C licenseAdditional Information
