POSITION STANDARDS High school diploma with computer ability required. Registered Orthopedic Technologist Required. Meets the standards required through the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologist and/or American Society of Orthopedic Professionals. ROT will follow the Providers scope of practice. Excellent customer service skills, promptness, reliability, appearance and mutual respect for co-workers are required. Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire. POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Anything listed here requires a pre-employment physical by Employee Health to determine if the employee is capable of meeting the requirements. Physical Activity: Standard sitting, bending, reaching, standing, lifting. Help patients in and out of wheelchairs; help patients on and off examining tables. Position Objective Manages the flow of clinic patients in the Clinic and assists providers with in-office procedures within the scope of service of a Registered Orthopaedic Technologist. Provides essential knowledge and information regarding clinical and administrative support decisions to providers, patients, and support staff. Assists office staff with clerical duties such as filing, chart preparation, and patient appointments.

 

Performance Expectation Attends/assists providers with office procedures such as injections, application and removal of casts, suture removal, application of skin and skeletal traction, wound checks and dressing changes, and setting up surgical fields, etc (and any other procedures within the scope of practice of a registered Orthopedic Technician as needed by provider) Follows treatment guidelines within the scope of practice. Enters orders as directed and routes appropriately. Documents clinical care in the EMR system and routes to the appropriate provider. Performs in Operating Room environment as first and second assist or scrub technician under the direction and supervision of a surgeon. Provide patient counseling when needed regarding surgery. Tracks pharmacy log of injectables and any adverse patient reaction. Call in prescription when ordered by Provider. Relay and document all phone messages to Providers. Prepares examination rooms and any instrument set up as required by the providers. Maintains non par level medical supplies and injectables. Maintains adequate supply of patient educational materials. Creates patient appointments following the scheduling guidelines for the specific provider, informs patient of co-pays/non insurance payment prior to their appointments. Schedule patient with off-site ancillary tests and consultation with other providers. Pre-authorize any and all ancillary test and surgery.
