Approx. one year position but flexible start and end dates due to each medical school’s different schedules.
The approximate Fellowship dates will be from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026, although there is some flexibility in the dates. The deadline for applications is January 13, 2025. Phone interviews will be conducted with finalists, and we plan to fill the position by March 1st.

Purpose
The Fellow will support Department faculty on research projects related to the design, implementation, and dissemination of value-based care models, outcome measurement (including the effect of interventions on patient-reported outcomes), costs of care, impact of psychosocial aspects in musculoskeletal illness, advances in shared-decision making and patient-provider engagement, and the application of digital health solutions.
Responsibilities
Core research duties include development of research protocols, management of Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, patient recruitment and data collection in the Musculoskeletal Institute’s Lower Extremity Integrated Practice Unit (IPU).
Involvement in operational projects, including quality improvement work related to patient-reported outcome collection and follow-up. Serve as the patient-reported outcome measure facilitator. Attend business strategy and management meetings as appropriate.
Dissemination of research results and value-based care delivery model through preparation of abstracts, presentations and manuscripts for multiple publications.
Other research duties may include but are not limited to: literature review; data entry and analysis; administrative duties as needed to support research projects.
Supervise undergraduate and medical student research volunteers in clinic in patient recruitment and data collection.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsThe applicant must be accepted to or enrolled in medical school at the time of application. Strong critical thinking skills; highly motivated; able to work well independently and in teams; strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills; basic understanding of statistics. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated interest in value-based health care; experience carrying out research projects through publication; completion of core clinical clerkships (e.g. current third-year medical student); experience making PowerPoint presentations; proficiency with data analysis; fluency in Spanish.
Salary Range$35,568
