Together with Saint Louis University, SSM Health Physical Therapy offers a 12-month orthopedic physical therapy residency designed to advance licensed physical therapists in their orthopedics knowledge, skills and attributes. We accept external applicants and internal applicants (current employees of SSM Health Physical Therapy). Our mission is to graduate physical therapist who embody the ideals of excellence through advanced integration of evidence into practice, enhanced clinical decision making and reflective patient care.
Application deadline is January 2nd, 2025. Interviews will be scheduled on January 19th and program begins August 5th, 2025.
Strong applicants will demonstrate the following:
A commitment to lifelong learning including the pursuit of Board Certification in OrthopedicsProfessional interests include serving the uninsured or underinsured in an urban environmentA desire to develop as an instructor for an entry level DPT programA history of clinical practice or clinical education experience(s) in the orthopedic setting (minimum of 10 weeks)Strong fundamental skills in the application of examination and treatment procedures Advanced written and verbal communication skills
This is a full-time, paid position with benefits.
ResponsibilitiesThe resident participates in clinical practice, multiple weekly structured educational experiences, mentored patient care, teaching in Saint Louis University’s Program in Physical Therapy, physician shadowing, and creation of a scholarly product.
QualificationsRecent graduates of APTA credentialed physical therapy programs are eligible to apply as well as physical therapists that are new to the field of orthopedics and seek one on one mentoring. A current and valid Missouri licensure (or eligibility for Missouri licensure as a Physical Therapist) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
