Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician I

Job Posting Title: Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician I Location: Dallas - Hospital Additional Posting Details: Monday thru Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Job Description: Duties/Responsibilities + Fabricates orthoses or prosthesis as delegated by the lab supervisor, consistent with department scope of practice. + Create positive plaster molds, strip negative casts, thermoform plastic, cutout, grind and smooth plastic for orthoses or prostheses. + Contour, drill, polish metal work for devices and add closures as requested. Sewing materials as required and assist practitioners on a PRN basis as needed. + Fit patients with shoes or fabricate shoe lifts + Track and order materials for inventory and manage equipment + Cares for and comes in contact with infants, toddlers, preschool, and school age patients + Interface with all clinical and lab staff regarding application of varied techniques to produce the most technically advanced and functional O&P devices. + Contribute to the training of residents and students as assigned + Perform all duties of the production assistant as needed ​ Required Skills/Abilities + High school degree or equivalent required. + Certificate from an ABC recognized O&P school, or a minimum of one year’s applicable technical experience required. + Must have sufficient knowledge and capability to fabricate all types of orthoses or prostheses as directed by the lab supervisor + Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills At Scottish Rite for Children, we work together with the common goal of helping give children back their childhood.
