**Position Summary**
The Orthotist is responsible for the assessment, design, fabrication, fitting, and adjustment of orthopedic braces and support devices to assist patients with mobility and musculoskeletal conditions. This role involves collaborating with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop patient-centered treatment plans to improve their quality of life.
**Responsibilities**
+ Evaluate patients' needs through consultations, physical examinations, and medical histories.
+ Design and fabricate custom orthotic devices to meet patients' specific requirements.
+ Fit and adjust orthotic devices to ensure proper alignment, fit, and function.
+ Instruct patients on the proper use, care, and maintenance of orthotic devices.
+ Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, physical therapists, and advanced practice providers, to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
+ Monitor and assess patients' progress, making necessary adjustments to orthotic devices as needed.
+ Assess patients' foot conditions related to diabetes, arthritis, and other medical conditions requiring pedorthic intervention.
+ Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation including assessments, treatment plans and follow-up adjustments.
+ Stay current with advancements in orthotic technology and best practices
+ Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations related to orthotics and patient care.
+ Uphold OrthoNY’s mission of delivering exceptional orthopedic care to the community
+ Other responsibilities as needed
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics or a related field.
+ Certification by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) or the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC).
+ Unrestricted New York State licensure
+ Strong understanding of biomechanics, kinesiology, and anatomy.
+ Experience in footwear modifications, custom foot orthotics, and diabetic foot care
+ Experience working with a diverse patient population, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
**Other Information**
+ This position may require standing for long periods and manual dexterity to fabricate orthotic devices.
+ May involve lifting orthotic materials and assisting patients with mobility challenges
+ Ability to travel between OrthoNY locations. Reliable transportation is essential
**The base salary is $70,000 with an opportunity to earn commission**
