OT Assistant, Certified COTA

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) performs a variety of therapy procedures and treatments under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR); assisting clients to improve their ability to perform daily living tasks, basic motor functions and cognitive ability. This will be an on call position.

Primary responsibilities
1) Provide Occupational Therapy treatments and procedures to clients under the direction of a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR), and in accordance with physician orders.
2) Collaborate with the IDT (interdisciplinary team) and OTR to ensure adequate and appropriate flow of services. 
3) Provide support and counseling to individuals and families concerning loss of function, and coping with issues as they relate.
4) Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and organization requirements. 
5) Assist in the maintenance of up-to-date program and techniques to enhance occupational therapy services provided.
6) Support various other Rehab responsibilities as needed. 
 

Job Specifications
Education, Experience and Credentials
• Associate’s Degree from an accredited school in Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
• One or more years experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant working with a geriatric population preferred.
• Must be registered and licensed with the State of Minnesota as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant and must maintain licensure.
• CPR/First Aid certified through American Red Cross required.

Hospice and Medicare Home Care: Possesses a valid driver’s license with good driving record, and proof of valid insurance.  Must have reliable transportation.
