Outpatient Coding Supervisor

Description
As the Outpatient Coding Supervisor, you will oversee
daily workflow, quality, and reporting activities for all outpatient coding
services, including ambulatory surgery, emergency, and observation coding. Reporting
to the Medical Coding Manager, you will ensure that productivity standards are
met to support the organization's financial goals while upholding high
standards for data quality. Additionally, you'll play a crucial role in
compliance, ensuring adherence to The Joint Commission (TJC), OSHPD/MIRCAL, and
CMS guidelines, and you will act as an internal consultant on coding systems
such as 3M 360 Encompass and EPIC (CareConnect).
Additional responsibilities include:
+ Supervising outpatient and ED coders to achieve departmental quality standards (95%) and productivity standards (4-6 outpatient surgeries/hour, 8-10 ED encounters/hour)
+ Managing medical coding work queues and prioritizing high-dollar Medicare and aging accounts
+ Communicating coding concerns or departmental issues to the Coding Manager or Director
+ Assisting with training of new and contracted staff and conducting biweekly huddles with team members
+ Ensuring that all accounts in 3M 360 Encompass are completed in a timely manner
+ Supporting performance improvement initiatives and preparing dashboards for team meetings
+ Working with the Coding Manager to identify areas for improvement and developing process improvement plans (PIPs)
Salary Range: $56.95 - $70.81 per hour.
Qualifications
We're seeking a dedicated professional with:
+ CCS certification (required); RHIA/RHIT preferred
+ Minimum of 5-7 years of supervisory experience with outpatient surgical/ambulatory care coding
+ Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS coding, with strong knowledge of APC payment methodologies and AHA Coding Clinic guidelines
+ Familiarity with EPIC (CareConnect) and 3M 360 Encompass
+ Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage workflows and prioritize high-impact accounts
+ Ability to train, supervise, and mentor coding staff effectively
