Gundersen Health System is looking for a fulltime Outpatient Physical Therapist to join our therapy team to primarily work with and treat our orthopedic and general physical therapy populations at our La Crescent Clinic as we bring patient-centered care close to home for our patients.

What You'll Do:

As an Outpatient Physical Therapist on our team, you will work at our La Crescent Clinic working with patients and families to examine, evaluate, diagnose, prognose, and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes. You will be responsible for developing plans of care and providing treatment techniques and interventions to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function through collaboration with referring providers and other clinical staff ensuring optimal patient care through appropriate and timely methods of communication and treatment. Typical caseloads include total knee and hip post op, sprains/strains, back pain, hip, shoulder, ankle, knee, chronic or acute pain.

What's Available:

Fulltime, 80 hours biweekly (1.0 FTE)

Monday - Friday, variable clinic hours between 7am-4:30 pm - no weekends or holidays 

Minium starting salary of $78,644 and up, based on your years of experience

45-minute appointment lengths, schedule allows for up to 45 patients/week, with 6.25 hours of blocked time each week for office time and patient rooming

What You'll Need:  

Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Physical Therapy from an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) approved curriculum in Physical Therapy

State of Minnesota Physical Therapist License 

Current Infant-Adult BLS for Health Care Providers from American Heart Association or American Red Cross 

Physical Therapist board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) desired

Prior experience with outpatient ortho patients or internship desired

Dry Needling certification preferred

Must be credentialed with Gundersen prior to starting

Job Description:

The Physical Therapist in their clinical role examines, evaluates and assesses individuals of all ages who have medical problems or other health related conditions that limit their ability to move or function with activities of daily living. The Physical Therapist develops a plan of care and provides treatment techniques and interventions to improve mobility, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability. The Physical Therapist provides physical therapy services and elements of patient/client care management leading to optimal outcomes according to the relevant state Physical Therapy Practice Standards. The Physical Therapist works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a team in the areas of education and consultation regarding patient needs in accordance with the vision and mission of Gundersen Health System.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Works with patients and families to examine, evaluate, diagnose, prognose, and intervene to insure optimal outcomes. Also consults and educates the patient and other care-givers as needed.
2. The physical therapist works with the referring provider and other clinical staff in providing optimal care of the patient through appropriate timely methods of communication including, but not limited to, complete and accurate patient chart notes and face-to-face consultations.
3. Interacts and practices in collaboration with a variety of professions, communicates value of physical therapy services.
4. Responsible for completing documentation according to established departmental standards to enhance effective patient care and proper reimbursement.
5. The physical therapist works with assistive staff in providing optimal care for the patient through supervised delegation of appropriate patient care duties as allowed by state and federal law.
6. Meets standards of practice according to federal, state, and professional association guidelines. Maintains and achieves proficiency in departmental competencies.
7. Teaches and counsels individuals, families, groups, and community.
8. The physical therapist works with other interested parties in education, research and quality improvement of services.
9. Participates in departmental and multidisciplinary review of process, treatment, or systems issues for quality improvement initiatives.
10. Pursues relevant educational opportunities to maintain or enhance professional knowledge and meet departmental needs.
11. The physical therapist, to the best of her/his capabilities and talents, works with other Gundersen Health System personnel in fulfilling the mission and vision statements of the organization.
12. Will be involved in coordinating and overseeing physical therapy student education.
13. Will be involved in Physical Therapist orientation to various sites and/or programs.
14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

15. Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
16. Personally interacts, engages with and cares for patients.
17. Ensures patient safety.

Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) approved curriculum in Physical Therapy

DESIRED
Master's degree in Physical Therapy
or a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Advanced training in a specialized area of Physical Therapy. Completed a Physical Therapy residency program.
