Physical Therapist Job Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy with a physical therapy degree:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree if graduated before January 1, 2016. Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) required if graduated after January 1, 2016. International candidates must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy; a DPT is preferred.

Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Physical Therapist license in the state where services will be provided. Licensure must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

CPR certification required within the first 90 days of employment.

Must maintain all certifications and licenses according to their expiration dates.

Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is preferred.

For employees assigned to drive:

A valid driver’s license is required for company vehicles. Proof of insurance is required in addition to a valid driver’s license when using a personal vehicle.

Work experience is preferred but not required, aside from clinical experience completed during the educational training program.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds. May be required to push up to 300 pounds.

Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned.
