Outpatient Services Supervisor
Job Description

The OPS supervisor will work closely with the Director of Perioperative Services to assist in the management of the OPS and the pain department. This individual will maintain a good working relationship with the physician’s offices, physicians, OR staff, and OPS staff. They will serve as a liaison between both the offices, physicians, staff, and unit director. This individual will assist with administrative tasks, as needed, to complete daily unit requirements and ensure smooth throughput for all patients having surgery. They will also assist the unit director in ensuring that staffing needs are met for the unit. This individual should expect to still perform some bedside nursing activities whenever needed to aid staff in completing patient care tasks, but maintain a leadership role to allow for smooth transitions throughout the unit.  

Graduate of an approved School of Nursing for a Registered Nurse. BSN a plus.  

Experience:  Desirable characteristics include at least four years of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse with experience within a leadership role within the past four years of nursing. Must be self-assertive, organized, and provide direction, as well as, support staff when needed. Must possess the ability to follow the direction of the unit director as needed and fill in, when necessary, to assist the unit director with unit flow through, unit tasks, and ensure staff have completed monthly ALC courses as they are due, mandatory certifications, and employee health requirements. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress with minimal direction from the director.  

Licenses/Certificates:  Must possess a current Alabama license as a Registered Nurse.  Must obtain and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, and moderate sedation.  Must complete required departmental competencies to validate competency and maintain competencies – initial competency validation completion within ninety (90) days of start date and then on an annual basis.
