\n\t\t\t\t\tColonna's located in Norfolk is now a client again after 3 years and hiring marine Pipefitters with 5+ years of experience in the field.\nThey will be responsible for the tear out and installation of new piping systems on a variety of Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Commercial vessels at their local yard as well as barges.\n\n4 Pipefitters needed 1st shift\nAll safety requirements including firewatch\nPrefer dbids eligible\nMay work 8 or 10 hour shift depending on job assignment\n \n \n \nResponsibilities:\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n•\tPerforms layout, fabrication, installation, testing and repair of pipe systems\n•\tFits pipe and properly prepares joints for welding to meet the specific requirements of the system on which work is being done\n•\tWorks from blueprints and makes fabrication sketches from which another mechanic could fabricate a unit of pipe\n•\tLays out and figures off set bends and rolling offset bends\n•\tMake up flanges - Proper sequence and material required\n•\tRead Blueprints and drawings related to job\n•\tSet up and operate burning torch\n•\tFabricate and design pipe hangars\n•\tTest piping systems with air and water\n•\tConduct actions and work behaviors according to safe shipyard practices\n•\tTack Weld, Silver braze, soft solder and burn\n•\tInstall simple systems without blueprints\n•\tWork with all materials and sizes of pipe and tubing\n•\tLay out all piping systems\n•\tRun pipe bending machines\n•\tEvaluate joint allowances and build the piping systems within required tolerances\n•\tConstruct dimensionally correct mock-up for off-site prefabrication - Read blueprints, fabricate stands and jigs, make targets. Construct within required tolerances. Track job from material list through completion\n•\tWork with all types of pipe joints, welded, screwed, soldered, glued, and all types of materials; copper, CuNi, NiCu, Cres, Steel, etc.\n•\tAble to properly use hand tools and power tools associated with the trade\n•\tTrain insubordinates and supervise crew as senior mechanic\n•\tAdherence to industry codes, specifications, and regulations\n•\tUnderstand and act upon instruction\n•\tWill be required to wear personal protective equipment- hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes and, when necessary, respirator\n•\tWork independently to complete responsibilities\n•\tMust have regular, reliable attendance\n \nQualifications:\nQUALIFICATIONS\n•\tHigh school diploma or equivalent\n•\t5 years minimum in shipboard pipefitting experience\n•\tTechnical training preferred\n•\tKnowledge of and ability to use hand tools and instruments associated with the Pipefitting trade, including but not limited to; pipe benders, bandsaws, bench grinders, drill presses, pipe threaders\n•\tLeader’s knowledge in troubleshooting skills\n•\tMust be able to work effectively with others\n•\tComprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.\n•\tEnter and move through manholes to reach and work internally confined spaces.\n•\tMust be a steady, reliable worker\n•\tMust be able to comprehend and follow instructions\nTOOL REQUIREMENTS:\n \nAssorted screwdrivers\nTip cleaners\nMarker\nTubing cutters\nVarious pliers\nChannel locks\nAssorted combo wrenches\nSmall pry bar\nStriker\nCenter punch\n6” half round file\n14” and 18” Alum\nPipe wrench\n6” Diagonal cutters\nBall peen hammer\nMini and standard\nCrescent wrenches\nSocket set to 1 ¼”\nVise grips\n½” Ratchet\nPipe scribe\n.\nMust have hard hat, steel toes and safety glasses.\nOSHA, VSRA Safety, FW, Aerotek Badge, Res Fit and 5 Panel Oraltox DT.\nUse HII base burden of 30% plus DT

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
