**Job Title: Outside Machinist**
**Job Description**
As an Outside Machinist, you will disassemble, repair, and install various types of equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and general industry. This includes pumps, valves, winches, and gear boxes. You will assist in determining repairs needed to bring equipment to rebuilt status, set up and operate drill presses, and apply your knowledge of materials such as bronze, brass, steel, and stainless steels in fabrication and repairs. You will be responsible for the application and care of all standard shop measuring and hand tools, and ensure the proper care and safe use of hand and power tools and all company property. Collaboration with other crafts as needed will be essential.
**Responsibilities**
+ Disassemble various types of equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and general industry.
+ Assist in determining necessary repairs to bring equipment to rebuilt status.
+ Set up and operate drill presses.
+ Apply knowledge of materials including bronze, brass, steel, and stainless steels in fabrication and repairs.
+ Properly care for and safely use hand and power tools and all company property.
+ Work with other crafts as needed.
+ Overhaul, maintain, and test pumps, valves, turbines, condensers, shafts, rudders, and winches.
+ Lay out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and other surfaces for connections such as shafting and steam lines.
+ Install below deck auxiliaries and connect them to steam pipe systems.
+ Remove, repair, modify, or overhaul various types of marine shipboard equipment and systems.
+ Set up and operate portable machining tools and equipment.
+ Troubleshoot and repair a variety of mechanical equipment including ANSI pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, extruders, mixers, agitators, and blenders.
**Essential Skills**
+ Four (4) years' experience as a Marine Outside Machinist.
+ Ability to disassemble, repair, and install various types of equipment and machinery such as pumps, valves, winches, and gear boxes.
+ Capability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings.
+ Possession of own tools.
+ Application of basic machine shop math.
+ Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and observe ships working protocol.
+ Demonstrate layout proficiency.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Must be able to obtain DBIDS.
+ Must be able to get OSHA/FW certifications.

**Work Environment**
Work will initially be performed at the client's location and will eventually move to NBSD 32nd St aboard the USS Stockdale once the ship arrives in San Diego, CA.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.

**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Chula Vista,CA.
