Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician
VCA Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles is looking for a highly skilled and knowledgeable critical thinker to support our Emergency and ICU departments on the overnights.At VCA ASG we are proud to be a teaching hospital and the choice for referring veterinarians and pet owners in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California.Requirements for this position:At least 2 years experience in an emergency veterinary settingProvide top quality medicine for highly critical and emergency patients on an hourly basisAdvocate for the patients to ensure the best care is providedOutstanding time management and organizational skills to keep up with and maintain hourly treatmentsSelf-started who can work independently with minimal guidanceAbility to triage and prioritize critical casesAbility to see the big picture to ensure each patient is provided the best possible careTop notch attendance and reliabilityExcellent communication skills while always maintaining kindness, compassion, and respectTechnical requirements for this position:Proficiency in the following technical skills/knowledge:Placing peripheral IVC, sampling catheters, and jugular cathetersDrawing blood and urine samples. Urine is U/S guided onlyAdministering critical and life-saving fluids & medications, including boluses, CRIs, and blood products.Cross match, blood type, administer and monitor transfusionsPerform all aspects of CPRInducing (if RVT), monitoring, and recovering patients from anesthesiaAssisting with an array of emergency and critical proceduresAnd much more!
