We are looking for:

The Overseas Logistics Buyer EMEA will be responsible for the development, management,  review and implementation of Overseas Logistics Procurement strategies relating to: One-way ISO Tank export flows ex EMEA, FCL and LCL export flows ex and within EMEA, Global Airfreight, Global Freight Forwarding.
As a member of the Overseas Logistics Procurement Team, the EAME Overseas Logistics Buyer will manage and develop relationships with Global Syensqo Businesses (GBUs) and external Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), both at a Global and Regional (EMEA) basis. He/She will work closely with GBUs and LSPs to achieve competitive advantage for Syensqo, whilst balancing operational efficiencies and costs and proactively interacting with all levels of operational and strategic management. He/She will also be responsible for improving associated Logistics Procurement and management processes in order to enhance Syensqo’s customer service performance.

Position Requirements include:

Responsible for, and lead negotiations with LSPs for FCL, LCL, one way ISO tanks and Air Freight flows out of the EMEA region as well as for Freight Forwarding.. Provide key support in the preparation, launch, negotiation, analysis, management and implementation of global and regional RFQs relating to FCL, LCL and ISO tank Ocean Freight, Air Freight and Freight Forwarding.   . Manage costs in a volatile Maritime market through the development of competitive cost suppliers and the consolidation of the incumbent supplier base. Responsible for the proactive communication to Syensqo GBU’s of current and upcoming logistics market changes. First point of contact for, and communication point with, GBU’s and LSPs relating to spot rates, Bunker adjustments, Routing guides, SOP’s, invoice discrepancies and pre-carriage. Enforce, monitor and evaluate purchasing strategies in relation to stakeholders, internal customers and suppliers.   Work closely with Syensqo GBUs / Supply Chains to monitor and analyze logistics data in order to ensure volume trends are, and performance is, in line with agreed expectations.  Responsible for the management of the LSP base (number of suppliers, commercial and performance evaluation, QSE etc) and for ensuring the successful implementation of Logistics Procurement processes. Responsible for Risk Management (Financial risk, HSE risks, etc.) of selected LSPs in order to ensure on-time and safe delivery to Syensqo end Customers as well as the security of Syensqo products / shipments during transport.. Also responsible for the lead and communication of a Risk Management Action Plan when required.  Ensure that Syensqo’s LSP base and logistics performance meets changing environmental, regulatory and technological changes. Work closely with Syensqo GBUs to set and agree clear requirements and expectations relating to the Logistics Procurement Team’s and LSPs’ performance. You can count on us for: The Overseas EMEA Logistics Buyer role provides the opportunity to work at both regional and global levels for a leading Global Chemical Producer. This position will enable the incumbent to manage relationships across a wide ranging internal customer base and with global and regional external logistics service providers in challenging and ever changing markets. In addition, the Logistics Buyer will gain extensive experience of working with other cross-organisational teams such as Finance and Legal. Existing influencing, analytical, negotiation, relationship management, maintenance and development, Project management and implementation, global and regional tender management and implementing skills will be improved whilst new skills are developed. Success in this role will open the door to other employment opportunities in Syensqo.


You will bring:

Min. University Degree level (preferably majoring in Business, Supply Chain/Logistics, Transportation or Engineering). Min 3 years working experience in a senior / managerial position, in Logistics Sales or Procurement for an international company.  Proficient (both written & spoken) in English  Spoken French is an asset but not mandatory. Negotiation   eSourcing / eAuctions RFI and RFQ management (Preparation / Launch / Analysis / Implementation / Reporting). Communication and Presentation. Relationship management and development (External and internal stakeholders) Procurement Strategy development, implementation and management Analytical (data / markets) Conflict management and resolution skills. Market Research IT (Google Sheets / Documents / Slides) Tenacious Well organized Open to learn, to change and to influence  Proactive in thinking and taking action Focussed and not easily distracted Motivated to challenge existing processes and procedures

Additional Information:

Directly responsible for an annualized Logistic Procurement spend of over US $13 million and providing key support to the management of Syensqo’s global FCL Logistics Procurement (over US $ 200 million).  The Overseas Logistics Buyer EMEA will report into the Global Overseas Logistics Procurement Manager and will be based at the Syensqo Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
