Job Title: Construction Administrator
Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Administrator to oversee and manage various aspects of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring project financial data, coordinating schedules, conducting meetings, and ensuring quality control through inspections and testing. This role is crucial in maintaining project timelines, budgets, and resolving any issues that may arise during the construction phase.

ResponsibilitiesMonitor and review budgetary cost accounting, including administration of construction contract change orders.Maintain spreadsheets indicating project funds allowances, obligations, payments, balances, planned expenditures, and assist in documentation of construction contract change orders.Prepare and maintain daily diaries for project activities, noting events affecting construction.Maintain a current project schedule, coordinate with the general contractor, and compare project progress against the Contractor (CM) schedule and the general contractor’s schedule.Address all schedule slippages to the Resident Engineer and make recommendations for adjustments.Coordinate work to be completed with hospital staff to minimize impact on operations.Conduct or attend weekly project meetings to review and monitor projects, project schedules, and construction contractor payment requirements.Prepare necessary forms for payment processing.Keep thorough records of occurrences, contracts, and other construction-related matters to assist in conflict resolution.Perform scheduling, conduct, and document regular progress meetings with all interested parties to review project status, discuss problems, and resolve issues.Monitor the services of an independent testing agency/laboratory for project-specific quality control testing and inspection services, including testing/inspection of soils, concrete, precast concrete connections, applied fireproofing, and roofing.Maintain marked up sets of project plans and specifications for future as-built drawings.Perform routine inspections of construction as work proceeds, identify work that does not conform to contract requirements, and notify the VA and general contractor when work requires correction.Compile lists of defects and omissions related to the work performed and provide these lists to the contractor for correction.Assist in relocation efforts and administration of construction contract change orders, including preparing cost estimates and reviewing cost proposals.Review submittals, respond to requests for information, maintain daily logs of activity, and coordinate owner-supplied equipment.Essential Skills3 years of construction management experience OR 2 years of experience with an engineering degree.Healthcare construction experience is a plus.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Strong communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsEngineering degree or relevant construction experience.Experience in project administration and coordination.Data entry skills.Work Environment

This position is onsite at one of two VA hospitals and may require work at both sites. The work schedule is a standard 40-hour week with no overtime. The role offers a great opportunity for long-term project experience in healthcare and the federal sector, with the added benefit of working for a well-known federal contractor with projects in all 50 states and 9 other countries. Vacation and holiday time will be billed back.
